Which products need a prescription, how to upload yours at checkout, what our pharmacist checks, and when your order ships.
Prescription and non-prescription products
Most products in our store – such as pain relievers, allergy tablets, vitamins and first-aid supplies – can be ordered without a prescription. Some medicines are prescription-only. In the United States these can only be dispensed against a valid prescription from a licensed prescriber, such as a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
On PharmacyFarm, prescription-only medicines are marked Rx · Prescription required on the product card and the product page. You can see all of them with the "Prescription only" filter on the products page.
Step by step
- Add the item to your cart. Prescription items are added to the cart like any other product.
- Upload your prescription at checkout. At checkout you are asked to upload your prescription. A clear photo or scan works best – make sure every part of it can be read.
- Our pharmacist reviews it. Before a prescription item is dispatched, our pharmacist checks the prescription. We may contact you, or your prescriber, if anything needs to be confirmed.
- Your order ships. Once the prescription has been verified and your payment confirmed, your order is packed in plain packaging and dispatched. Most orders arrive within 3–5 business days of dispatch.
What a prescription usually includes
Requirements vary by state and by medicine, but a prescription generally shows:
- Your full name, and often your date of birth or address
- The name of the medicine, its strength and its form – for example 500 mg capsules
- The quantity and the directions for use
- The prescriber's name, contact details and signature
- The date it was written
If something is missing or hard to read, we contact you before the item ships.
If your prescription can't be verified
We never dispatch a prescription-only medicine without a verified prescription. If we can't verify yours, we email you about your order, and any prescription item we can't dispatch is refunded – see our refund policy.
Questions about your medicine
Our product pages give general information only. For advice on whether a medicine is right for you, how to take it, or how it might interact with your other medicines, talk to your prescriber or a pharmacist.
